DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Denison’s Main Street is opening a new fine dining restaurant along with a social lounge; adding another major attraction to the growing city.

The restaurant is called 34 Chophouse, and it gets its name from the 34th president, Dwight Eisenhower, who was born less than a mile away in Denison.

“It’s a way to make people happy; this is what we do for a living,” said developer Tony Smith. “To provide that with a glass and a plate for the community that is so desperately searching for a gathering celebratory place.”

The restaurant also will include a social lounge that will be named after another historical figure with a Denison connection, Doc Holliday. Doc’s Lounge will be a special feature that will be attached to the restaurant.

“We all have the same goal in mind, and that is to create a beautiful spot… one where you won’t just have food, but you will have an experience,” said developer, Rhonda Borgne.

The developers believe the restaurant will serve as the main attraction in downtown Denison.

“This is that behemoth; this is going to be that anchor draw for that dining experience, that lounge experience… live music, gathering capabilities in our ballroom; it is really going to be a homed center place,” Smith said.

People get to see what the hype is all about when the restaurant, at 331 West Main Street, opens next month.
