DENISON, Texas (KTEN) – Denison ISD is partnering up with local organizations to invest in hands-on career experience with the high school’s new high tech job training program.
Tony Kaai, The Denison development alliance president said, “well it’s very exciting for all of us, but really the benefit is to our students and families in our area that they have a new career opportunity here.”
Last year the district received a $244,000 grant from Workforce Texoma Solutions and the Denison Development Alliance to aid with fast-track student employment opportunities.
Aaron Pridemore, Denison ISD EETC teacher said, “well the biggest thing is employment, we don’t wanna send a kid out into the world with no skill.”
The electrical engineering technology lab is considered a contingency course, equipping students to be able to continue their education at Grayson College.
“It’s not an industry based certification, it’s a college based certification so it holds more merit,” said Aaron Pridemore.
With the skills developed, students are qualified to work at industrial manufacturing industries.
“We’re all working together to create a pipeline of students that are trained in electronic engineering, that skill set is extremely sought after in our Grayson county area,” said Tony Kaai.
Staff with the district’s program tell us they hope to see the program expand in years to come.”
“That technology is never going away, it’s only going to grow, said Aaron Pridemore.”
