DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — With Texas Instruments and GlobiTech expanding in Sherman, the Denison Development Alliance is staying ahead of the competition to bring businesses to the Sherman’s northern neighbor.
“We’re ahead of the competition because we’re next door to Sherman, and we are the closest industrial properties to the TI property,” said DDA president Tony Kaai. “That give us a leg up, and we’re partners with Sherman.”
DDA’s goal is to bring companies to industrial parks in Denison that will help supply these manufacturing companies in Sherman.
“We believe that suppliers will want to be close so they can quickly can get the material they want from their suppliers and build a product, and they are going to ship their product out,” Kaai said.
The DDA is working with a third party to target those suppliers.
“The marketing plan consists of the contacts that our consultant has, and he’s got thousands,” Kaai said. “He’s been all over the world multiple times, everywhere where these products are made and shipped in to supply TI and GlobalWafers.”
And with the possibility of these new businesses coming to Denison, Texoma resident Tobie Bunievatz believes this will bring a lasting impact to the city.
“We have done a whole lot of remodeling downtown, and so more people are going to bring more people to downtown, more businesses to Denison, which brings more revenue,” he said.
